- Bangalore -

This is a four-bedroom apartment in Prestige White Meadows, Whitefield Bangalore, for a couple with two young children. The home owners wanted an interior that was clutter-free, easy to maintain and contemporary with clean lines. To achieve this our design language throughout the apartment was to use white as a primary colour and quarter-cut walnut veneer as the contrasting element. White was used extensively as a finishing material in the form for lacquer paint and lacquer glass on shutter fronts and other running elements. The PU coated walnut veneer formed the contrasting element in the form of the carcass, trims, skirtings and other design elements. We chose a long sheer wall that ran through the living and dining room as the highlight feature; we treated its surface with a cement finish with contrasting moss green stained oak veneer panels which highlighted the handwash areas and a display niche.

We designed a partition with vertical slants and veneer with white lacquer panels interspaced between them randomly, these partitions acted as dividers between the entrance lobby and the living-dining space, as well as formed an element on either side of the altar which divided the living and the dining rooms.

Wall paper was used as filler elements to highlight important walls which acted as backgrounds for movable as well as fixed furniture. Movable furniture in fabric and leather in bright colours were introduced to bring in colour to the otherwise stark interiors. The colourful odd chairs, cushions, abstract art and floor rugs reflected the home owners’ love for colour.
